On July 5, 2025, Jakarta will host the first Russian Film Day Indonesia 2025 screening convention, organized by ROSKINO with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation. The screenings will be part of the Kinosuite Consulate International Film Program, a specialized initiative within the Kinosuite International Indonesian Film Festival that promotes films from different countries and fosters international partnerships in the field of cinema.

For the first time, Indonesian viewers will have the opportunity to become broadly acquainted with the diverse trends and genres of Russian cinema. The Russian Film Day program will include blockbusters like the war drama His Name Was Not Listed (2025, dir. Sergei Korotaev) and the fairy tale The Enchanted Tinderbox (2024, dir. Alexander Voitinsky), as well as art house cinema films that have participated in several international film festivals – the drama Endless Winter (2024, dir. Nikolai Larionov) and the documentary Roman Kostomarov: Born Twice (2024, dir. Mikhail Shchedrinsky), as well as the dramatic comedy Three of Us (2024, dir. Alexandra Sarana). These free screenings will take place at CGV Cinema – Central Park.

This milestone marks the first major showcase of contemporary Russian cinema in Indonesia, bringing together a vibrant selection of blockbusters and critically acclaimed arthouse works. The free public screenings will take place at CGV Cinemas Central Park and will highlight the creative diversity and global reach of Russian filmmaking.

The program features His Name Was Not Listed (2025, dir. Sergei Korotaev) from Gazprom-Media Holding,, a powerful war drama commemorating the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory; The Enchanted Tinderbox (2024, dir. Alexander Voitinsky), a magical family fantasy; and a selection of auteur-driven titles that have earned recognition on the international festival circuit.

These include Endless Winter (2024, dir. Nikolai Larionov), a quiet, emotional drama exploring grief and healing; Roman Kostomarov: Born Twice (2024, dir. Mikhail Shchedrinsky), a moving documentary on resilience and human spirit; and Three of Us (2024, dir. Alexandra Sarana), a romantic road film through the Russian countryside.

This curated lineup offers a wide lens into modern Russian cinema—from historical epics to tender human stories—providing Indonesian audiences with a rare opportunity to engage with a spectrum of genres and narratives.

Indonesia joins a growing list of Southeast Asian countries hosting ROSKINO events, reinforcing the organization’s commitment to expanding international cooperation through cinema. The upcoming Indonesian Film Festival in Russia this July will continue this important bilateral initiative.

Indonesia will become another new destination in ROSKINO’s calendar of events and will expand the company’s geographical reach in Southeast Asia, an important region for Russian content exporters. Russian Cinema Day Indonesia 2025 will be held as part of a program of film events between Russia and the Republic of Indonesia (the reciprocal Indonesian Film Festival in Russia will take place in July 2025).

ROSKINO CEO Elsa Antonova comments:

“We try different formats at our festivals, and for the second time this year we will present our cinema in the format of Russian Film Day. We organized a similar event in Nepal in April, and now we are delighted to be part of the Indonesian festival’s film program. Given the focus of this film festival, the screening program includes several outstanding auteur projects in various genres. We hope that the Indonesian audience’s interest in Russian cinema will grow.”

Indonesia Launches Nusantara Insight Film Festival (NIFF)

At the press conference for Russian Film Day Indonesia 2025, held today at CGV Cinemas Central Park, a defining moment for Indonesian cinema was unveiled: the launch of the Nusantara Insight Film Festival (NIFF), a new independent international film and cultural initiative that aims to carry the voices of Indonesia’s emerging storytellers across borders and generations.

Born from a belief that stories shape the soul of nations, NIFF emerges as a platform to present the authentic, nuanced, and powerful narratives of the Indonesian archipelago to the world stage. At its core, the initiative is not simply a film festival, but a long-term cultural diplomacy program that harnesses the emotional power of cinema to elevate national identity, build cross-cultural understanding, and forge sustainable global partnerships.

The festival’s vision is as vast as the seas that bind Indonesia’s islands (‘Wawasan Nusantara‘):
to bring emerging contemporary Indonesian voices to new audiences worldwide, while anchoring pride in traditional heritage.

Initiated under the theme “Bringing the Archipelago Insight Around the World,” NIFF will serve as a bridge between Indonesia’s rich, diverse insights and contemporary global cinema. Its premiere slate is led by two landmark feature films that symbolize the depth and breadth of Indonesian storytelling:

  • 12 Mile: Guiding the Archipelago – A sweeping docudrama about Prof. Mochtar Kusumaatmadja, who contributed in bringing Wawasan Nusantara to be recognized around the world. This film explores maritime sovereignty, heritage, and unity across the seas, executive produced by Agus Imanuddin.
  • Bestiary – A Parcstar Assembly Inc. haunting psychological drama exploring grief and identity, written, directed, and produced by emerging filmmaker Julio Rionaldo. This international-driven narrative marks a bold entry of Indonesian auteur cinema into the global arthouse space.

Beyond screenings, NIFF is structured as a living cultural movement—its activities are designed to create lasting footprints through: International festival premieres and touring showcases, consular and campus roadshows in key cultural cities, theatrical collaborations with film institutes and embassies, reciprocal festival partnerships with leading institutions abroad, up to digital streaming initiatives to reach diaspora and global cinephiles

The inaugural step in this global journey begins with a reciprocal showcase with ROSKINO in Moscow, deepening the Indonesia–Russia cultural exchange that Russian Film Day has now inaugurated. This will be followed by a European tour to Amsterdam, Vienna, and Athens, with further destinations to be announced.

“Through this initative, we invite the world to witness Indonesia as a living, breathing constellation of cultures, languages, landscapes, and dreams,” said festival co-founder Julio Rionaldo, “we are not merely exporting films; we are extending hands, sharing truth, and opening dialogues to the miracle of possibilities.”

As the world increasingly turns to cinema as a mirror of society and a window to unfamiliar worlds, NIFF positions Indonesia not only as a land of beautiful stories, but as a vital voice in shaping the global narrative of tomorrow.

Shaping the Narrative of Tomorrow Through the Lens of a New Generation

The Kinosuite Consulate: Russian Film Day, held today at CGV Cinemas Central Park, is more than a cultural screening event, it is a bold expression of Kinosuite International’s mission to empower the next generation of global storytellers. As part of the Kinosuite International Indonesian Film Festival, this special program celebrates not only cinematic excellence from Russia but also the spirit of Gen Z and Gen Alpha creativity—forward-thinking, socially driven, and borderless.

At the heart of this initiative is the belief that cultural diplomacy must evolve with the times. Julio Rionaldo, President of Kinosuite International, articulates the festival’s founding philosophy:

“We believe in the power of the next generation of storytellers to shape the narratives of tomorrow,” says Julio Rionaldo, President of Kinosuite International.
“we do not merely support films—we want to cultivate ecosystems that make filmmaking accessible, sustainable, and repeatable. Because our aim is not just to make movies, but to make moviemakers. And when you make moviemakers, the movies will self-perpetuate.”

This progressive ethos is reflected in every dimension of the Kinosuite Consulate Program. The organizing committee is composed of young creatives from across Southeast Asia, and the event opens space for student volunteers from high schools and undergraduate universities, offering real-world experience in festival planning, cultural exchange, and international collaboration.

To nurture these voices further, Kinosuite Consulate features a vibrant educational platform led by acclaimed industry mentors: featuring Bootstrap Cinema: Zero-Budget Indie Hustle”, a creative laboratory and mentoring session led by Fadhil Abhimantra of Ruang Mantra Studio, invites emerging filmmakers to explore sustainable, resourceful pathways to filmmaking using nothing but faith, grit, heart, and story. Whereas Julio Rionaldo himself also led another strategic masterclass about international co-productions, which unveils practical frameworks for navigating the world of cross-border film financing and collaboration, making the global stage more accessible to independent creators of the information age.

Together, these initiatives represent a growing cinematic ecosystem that is rooted in access, education, and sustainability. This hybrid model, equal parts film showcase, learning laboratory, and cultural bridge ensures that Kinosuite Consulate: Russian Film Day becomes more than a one-day event; it becomes a vessel for shared growth: where the voices of tomorrow co-authors the stories of the future.

For young dreamers, first-time creators, and next-gen producers—this is where it begins. And for the world of cinema, this is where tomorrow’s narratives take shape.
